Our First ASU Graduation Session — Danielle's Story

Danielle found us the same way a lot of our best clients do — her mom came across Luz y Vida on Facebook and passed along our contact information. It turned into our very first ASU graduation session, and it's one that's stuck with me since.

Shooting at Old Main and Palm Walk

We photographed Danielle's session right on ASU's Tempe campus, starting at Old Main — the oldest building on campus and one of the most recognizable backdrops for a Sun Devil grad photo. From there, we moved to Palm Walk, the tree-lined path that's become one of the most photographed spots at ASU. Between the two locations, we had the historic architecture and the greenery to give Danielle's photos real variety.

Bringing out the color

Same as every outdoor session in Arizona, the sun doesn't make things easy. We used flash again here to bring out true, vibrant color in Danielle's photos instead of letting the harsh daylight wash everything flat — a technique that's quickly become part of how we approach every graduation session.

Celebrating more than just a degree

Danielle graduated with a bachelor's in technology, and she already had a job lined up before she even walked the stage. She was genuinely excited — not just about finishing school, but about what came next. That energy came through in every photo we took that day. This was our first time shooting an ASU graduation, and it's given us a real appreciation for how much character the Tempe campus brings to a senior portrait session.
